Neutral Milk Hotel — My Dream Girl (Don’t Exist)
My dream girl don’t exist. At the age of five she slit her wrist.
My dream girl don’t exist. Just you and I and this TV.
She didn’t know that I’d be hanging around, so her parents buried her in the ground. And this day I can still hear the sound of a life in outer space.
And this illness seems to feel so strange, like a henchman that’s about to hang the moon up like a ball and chain and set the sands ablaze.(via breathinglisterine)

“I Want To Die” by the Deadly Snakes
I used to tremble. I used to shake. I used to wonder what it was like.
I used to dance and sing. I used to drink and fight. I used to sleep well — almost every single night. I used to stand up in the face of my adversity. I used to think I had a woman that would care for me. I used to get up when someone put me down. I used to think I loved and cared about this spiteful town. I used to be around. -
The only thing I’m worse at pretending to care more about than real music is music by local bands.
But this song is aces.

my theories are borrowed from somewhere else
and i never had too many to talk about
but you were real quick, you were quick to point out
well, that was borrowed too -
Well, I ain’t very good but I get practice by myself.
Forgot my one line, so I just said what I felt:
“If only you were lonely, if only you was lonely too,
If only you was lonely. I’d go home with you.” -
“Streets Of Laredo” by Javelin
It’s Saturday night but best part is over. The ballads are sung and cowboys are sober and I’m going home to a bed with no covers.

I am 99% sure this is the best song ever made. Like, if I was a person who was making music on or after the day this song came out I’d be so intimidated that I’d never create anything ever again.IN FACT! The audacity! The unmitigated gall of anyone willing to create sounds post-1978 when this song released is astonishing. Not to say beautiful music hasn’t been created since then. It has! In spades! But I would have been way too intimidated to even try. I would have felt like everything necessary had been said. Because this is the best song, probably. This is probably just the best song.
