In my opinion [Glee] peaked nine minutes into the pilot episode when Rachel Berry (before they gave us a chance to not like her) sang “On My Own” while auditioning for New Directions. You can click the picture above and watch it. It’s really pretty beautiful, if you’re into that sort of thing. I have a soft spot for Les Misérables. My mom used to listen to it when I was growing up so I know a lot of the songs by heart, and their melodies alone really get to me. I didn’t tear up during the trailer for the new movie version, but I did watch it three times in a row.
I guess this is a post about Glee? And how I sort of like it. And how I’ll keep watching it. And how in December I’m going to be alone in a movie theater in a strange new city crying during a Hugh Jackman movie.
I’m not saying I’m psychic or anything but this happend tonight.

I’m glad I have homework again so I can procrastinate by watching this stuff.

I’m not a huge fan of Glee. It’s hit or miss and usually when it hits it’s seemingly on accident. In my experience those moments are due exclusively to the fact I can be easily moved by a spontaneous and earnest musical number. I don’t really care about the characters, but if they sing the right song hard enough I can forget that long enough to enjoy the show. It doesn’t help that I only recognize about 40% of the songs they sing. Or maybe it does.
