The premiere episode of Life’s Too Short was mediocre at best. Warwick Davis is basically a mashup of David Brent’s (Office UK) personality in Andy Milman’s (Extras) situation. That said I’ll still watch the whole series because I eat up anything Ricky Gervais makes even though we can all agree he’s pretty much the worst now. 

The most redeeming part of this episode was the poster of Warwick Davis’ head-shots. Especially the Tom Sellack-y moustache. 

I still haven’t finished the series. I didn’t hate it but aside from some funny celebrity cameos (which also sort of made things worse by reminding me that I could be re-watching Extras) and the welcome presence of Stephen Merchant (who for some reason allowed himself to be written as little more Gervais’ admiring sidekick) the whole thing sort of felt like they were making fun of making fun of little people by making fun of little people while recycling characters from old shows.

I think it’s interesting that the world is turning on Gervais for being a dick all of a sudden. Sure, he hasn’t done anything really awesome in a while and sure he’s made everyone remember that atheists can be just as obnoxious as their God-fearing antitheses but it seems like the whole Internet decided at once they were through with him. Maybe he should gain his weight back. I think “The Ricky Gervais” show would be cancelled if they started drawing him all thin and toothy.
